Getting Started

How does it work?

SurveyMonkey Contribute lets you earn rewards for completing surveys. After you sign up for free, we'll send you surveys to take. For each one that you complete, we'll donate $0.50 to a participating charity of your choice, and give you the opportunity to enter our sweepstakes. See How it Works for more details.

Can anyone join?

Unfortunately not. To be a member, you must be at least 13 years old, and a resident of the United States, excluding the states of Alabama, Hawaii, Maine, and Massachusetts. Please see our terms of use for complete details.

How do I get started?

Sign up for free, and start taking surveys. It's that easy!

Taking Surveys

What kinds of surveys will you send me?

You'll get surveys of all sorts! Our survey creators come from a wide range of industries, backgrounds, and specializations. Some of them are surveying to perform market research, while others are academics trying to understand opinions. So far, Contribute members have taken surveys on social media usage, video game preferences, and exercise habits, to name a few. SurveyMonkey Contribute reviews every survey before it is sent to members to ensure that it complies with the content guidelines permitted in our Terms of Use.

How often will I get surveys?

Roughly once per week, but it really depends on two things: how many of our opinion purchasing customers are running surveys that week, and the targeting criteria that they are interested in. It is possible for not all SurveyMonkey Contribute members to receive an invite in a given week. As more customers come to us to seek your opinions, the likelihood that you will receive survey invitations each will go up. From time to time, we may also send you profiling surveys to help us learn more about you, often as a way to help survey customers find ways to target their research to the appropriate groups within SurveyMonkey Contribute.

Can I stop taking a survey part way through to complete it later?

No you cannot. You will have to start the survey again from the beginning if you stop taking it part way through.

Why don't I have any surveys?

There can be several reasons for not having surveys waiting for you. For starters, you may have already taken several surveys this month. It's also possible that you missed a few of your past surveys, so we've reduced the rate at which we send them to you. In either case, please wait for a week or two, and you should receive an opportunity to contribute your opinions.

Where can I see my rewards?

We display your charity contributions on your dashboard which you can see immediately after logging in. Other rewards, such as the sweepstakes prize, will be sent to you by email if you win.

How does the sweepstakes work?

After completing your survey, you can enter a sweepstakes for a chance to instantly win a prize. Read the sweepstakes rules for winning odds and more details.

Which charities do you support?

Visit our Charities page to see all of our charity partners.

Can I support multiple charities?

Yes you can. After completing a survey, you can tell us which charity we should make the $0.50 donation to. You may change the charity you donate to as often as you wish.

Where can I see donations to participating charities?

You can see the amount each charity has earned in the program by visiting individual charity pages. We make donations quarterly and send donation letters about SurveyMonkey Contribute progress, along with a check, to each participating charity. We also detail total donations made in quarterly blog posts; see our most recent post about quarterly donations.

How do you sign up charities to this program?

SurveyMonkey verifies the 501(c)3 statuses of participating charities by cross-checking their EIN or TIN with publicly available government documents. Additionally, SurveyMonkey enters into a legally binding contract with each charity that requires SurveyMonkey to make the donation and report earnings at the end of each quarterly period, which is currently based on calendar quarters.

My Account

How do I access my account settings?

Log in and then visit the My Account page. You can also access this page by the link in the top right corner of the screen after logging in.

Can I use my account with SurveyMonkey?

Yes you can. This site is a product of SurveyMonkey, and therefore, uses the same login information between the two. This means that you can log into with the same username and password that you use to log into this site.

I forgot my password!

Not a problem! Visit this page and follow the instructions to reset your password.

How do I change my profile?

At present, there is no way on this website for you to change your profile after you take the first survey we assign to you. If you would like for us to modify it, please email customer support.

How do I change my default charity?

Log in and then visit our Charities page to change your default. You can also do so by visiting the My Account page after logging in. Also note that after you complete a survey and pick a charity to reward, we will set that charity as your default.

How do I shut down my account?

You can permanently shut down/delete/deactivate your SurveyMonkey Contribute account and all personal information you shared on this website at any time by following these steps:

  • Click here to visit your account page. You will have to log in if you aren't already.
  • Scroll down to the "Stop Using SurveyMonkey Contribute" section.
  • Click on "Delete my account".

Once you delete your account, you will lose all your survey taking history, profile information, and will not be able to participate in SurveyMonkey Contribute with this username again.


How do you protect my privacy?

We've written up a detailed Privacy Statement to answer a host of questions around privacy. Please read it to understand how we collect, use, and protect personal information.

What data do you share with third-parties?

We only share your survey answers and basic profile data with surveyors, but not your name or home address. Please read our Privacy Statement to see exactly what we share.

What email will I receive from you?

We will send you emails from time to time to tell you about surveys that are waiting for you to take. We may send also you other emails related to using SurveyMonkey Contribute. We may also send you emails related to SurveyMonkey tips, including a periodic newsletter, if you opted in to receive these during sign up. You may opt out of any of these emails from the My Account page at any time.

How do I purchase opinions?

If you are an organization interested in having our members take your survey, please fill out this form to tell us more about yourself. We will contact you within a few business days to learn more.

What data do I get if I purchase a panel?

We provide you with the answers to your surveys, and basic demographic information of our members who responded.

How does the Charity Partner Program work?

SurveyMonkey Contribute donates thousands of dollars each month to its participating charities. Our service works by letting anyone earn rewards for completing surveys, including a donation to a participating charitable organization of their choice. For each completed survey, we donate $0.50 to the charity selected by the survey taker, and also give them the opportunity to enter our sweepstakes.

When your organization signs up to be a partner charity, our members will be able to choose your organization to receive contributions. Furthermore, you will be able to encourage your own memberbase to join our service, and help generate more donations for your organization.

How do I sign up my charity?

Please visit our charity signup page to begin. Our charity manager reviews submissions and will reach out to charities that we believe are a good fit for our program.

Should I encourage my members to sign up?

Once you are a participating charity, then absolutely yes! Your members can choose to generate donations for your charity, and every survey they complete will earn your organization $0.50 . This can add up quickly; some of our charities receive thousands in dollars from us every month, and have many of their members signed up to participate. To help you sign them up, we will create a special page just for your charity that you can direct your members to. For example, here is the charity page for Boys and Girls Club of America.

How does SurveyMonkey Contribute treat my members?

We take great care to ensure that all our members have a pleasant and rewarding experience using our service. This FAQ answers many questions about how our service works, so we recommend skipping to the top and looking at our table of contents. Here are quick links to some of the most common questions that our charity partners ask:

How do you verify charitable status?

We verify 501(c)3 statuses of charities in our database by cross-checking their EIN or TIN with publically available government documents. If a charity does not qualify, we are not able to add it to our database.

How often will my charity be able to collect the donations?

At the end of each calendar quarter, SurveyMonkey will mail a check to your charity for all donations made to your charity in the quarter. This process may take up to several weeks.

Can I remove my charity from this program?

Yes, you can remove your charity from this program by terminating the SurveyMonkey Contribute Promotion Agreement that your charity has with us. You may terminate by sending us an appropriate notice in accordance with the terms of the agreement. Please email if you do not have, or cannot find, a copy of this agreement.

How do we sign the agreement?

You sign it online using a secure website called RightSignature. Each signing officer will be emailed a unique link to sign the contract online. They will need to click on the link from their email, and then type in their information in the online form, draw their signature with their mouse, and then click Submit. Once all parties have signed, SurveyMonkey will be able to proceed with the next steps. You can find out more here. If you are not able to sign using the online signature service, please contact and we can provide alternative means to sign the document.
